"When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid".
These words by feminist thinker, writer, and daughter of Caribbean immigrants, Audre Lorde, guide my ethos as a creative industries leader, arts advocate, and citizen of the world.
Hi there! I’m Kadon—a strategist, consultant, and social impact leader with more than 15 years of experience in Canada’s arts, culture, and nonprofit sectors. I’ve dedicated my career to building equitable, thriving ecosystems in the creative industries—from leading nonprofits and influencing national policy, to helping individual creators secure funding and grow their audiences.
I’ve held senior roles in communications, development, and executive leadership through which I’ve championed equity and inclusion in the screen sector, raised funds and secured partnerships with major broadcasters and media companies, and designed and launched career development programs for artists and entrepreneurs.
With Camerhogne Consulting, I bring that experience to nonprofits, arts organizations, funders, and corporations seeking to strengthen strategy, leadership and impact.
Supporting creators is as important to me as supporting organizations. I advise filmmakers, media artists, and storytellers—with a focus on Black and racialized communities—on navigating Canada’s complex funding landscape, refining proposals and pitch decks, and developing audience engagement strategies that resonate.
Why Camerhogne?
Camerhogne [kah-muh-HON] is the Indigenous Kalinago name of Grenada, my homeland. I’ve always known that if I ever create a business it would be named in honour of my country of birth, the village that raised me or my grandmothers.
I live and work in honour of my ancestors and the stewards—brave warriors, resourceful leaders, innovative thinkers, and community weavers that they were—of the land within which my navel string is buried.
